COMMITMENT TO HSE-LEADERSHIP&COMMITMENT STATEMENT
Leadership and commitment has become the foundation of Boomtown Resources Limited management system. We Plan, Do, Check and get a Feedback
The demonstration of Leadership and commitment expected of the leadership of the Company is applicable to the Managing Director and Heads of the various sections of the company. In addition to these, they demonstrate commitment by the following:
• Belief in the company’s ability to continually improve HSSE performance.
• Creating a non-blame working environment as much as possible.
• Setting clear objectives and targets for HSSE and reviewing performance at regular intervals.
• Empowering and encouraging staff at all levels to take personal responsibility for, and take a leadership role in HSSE issues relevant to their professional work, their work environment, and our host communities.
Management recognizes the fact that there can be no meaningful progress in all areas of business especially in HSSE without strong management’s support. Management therefore regards HSSE as part of line Manager’s daily responsibilities alongside his business responsibilities.
The MANAGING DIRECTOR and/or other Managers will visit work locations regularly to monitor HSSE performance by conducting inspections and audits, participation in HSSE meetings and discussing relevant HSSE issues with employees.
The company management holds her HSSE meeting regularly and HSSE is also an important item in the agenda of most business meetings. Warnings and other serious disciplinary actions will be taken against serious and repeated breaches of HSSE rules. Details of all these shall be contained in the company’s Consequence Management Manual awaiting development.
Sectional heads are empowered to stop work if they feel that the work is not safe. Good HSSE performance is always rewarded and the HSSE department is well staffed with experienced and competent personnel.
It is the management's responsibility to ensure that all employees are properly equipped and trained, and to motivate them to work safely.
Employees are encouraged to put up right attitude, as it is the key to progress in every organization.
To satisfy our responsibilities and to exercise a greater control of health, safety and environment within our organization, to protect people and control the business, as well as to show management commitment we established this sequence:
HEALTH, SAFETY, & ENVIRONMENT (HSE) POLICY
Boomtown Resources Limited as part of its corporate policy considers Health Safety, Security and Environment issues to have equal status with other business objectives. Health, Safety and Environmental Work Rules imposes a statutory duty on employers to ensure, in so far as is reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of their employees and environment where work is performed is safe. This duty also extends to others persons or environment that may be affected by that work.
It is the Policy of Boomtown Resources Limited that activities are planned and executed in a manner that:
• Identify HSE hazard and reduce risks to a level that is As Low as Reasonably practicable (ALARP), and the preservation of health, safety and Security of her employees, sub contractors and third parties who may be affected by Boomtown Resources Limited operations.
• Maintenance of plant and equipment in safe and proper manner.
• Investigation of any accident to ascertain causes in order to put controls in place and avoid future re-occurrence, conduct of audits, Incident investigations and review to ensure the effective implementation of this policy.
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations and Standard and other requirements to which we subscribe, and assurance of strict compliance of its sub-contractors with the terms of this policy.
• Recognition of excellence in safety and the provision of safe and secure environment, as well as promotion of HSE awareness and assure competence to control our HSE risks.
• To minimize to the barest minimum, the impact of our operation on our working environment, and is sensitive to the needs and concerns of its host communities.
• Require EVERYONE TO STOP Any WORK, or PREVENT WORK STARTING, where adequate controls to manage HSE risk are not in place. Each staff is empowered to intervene whenever one observes any unsafe act/condition.
